WQLN’s STREAM Machine Makes Learning Fun

December 12, 2022

Thanks in part to a $17,000 grant from The Erie Community Foundation, the WQLN educational outreach team is hitting the road in their new STREAM Machine and visiting students at child learning centers, various schools and community centers. The STREAM Machine is a mobile outreach vehicle stocked with STREAM kits and PBS KIDS books to engage students and families with remarkable learning opportunities in science, technology, reading, engineering, art and math.

“Student test scores showed significant learning loss in the pandemic,” said Pat Herr, vice president of Community Impact. “Our grant helps close the learning gap by creatively engaging students and providing books to families with kids aged 2-8 in underrepresented communities.” The STREAM Machine will provide remarkable in-person learning experiences for 1,500 kids.
