Harborcreek School District’s Clark Elementary School received a Helping Today grant to begin Phase 1 of Clark’s Discovery Courtyard, an outdoor STEAM-based classroom.  STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) builds a student’s sense of curiosity and creativity, essential to promoting a love of lifelong learning.

The elementary school was lacking sufficient space to engage and explore STEAM-related projects. The classroom spaces are all carpeted and the school only has one multi-purpose room, which functions as the school’s cafeteria, gymnasium and auditorium.  An outdoor space will be ideal to conduct a wide range of activities and will be utilized by the district’s two other elementary schools, Rolling Ridge and Klein.

“Our entire community is so excited to see this dream become a reality,” said Donna Rose, Principal, Clark Elementary. “Clark students, as well as other elementary students in the Harbor Creek School District, will enjoy this courtyard for years to come.”
