We are pleased to announce The Nonprofit Partnership’s Celebrate Nonprofits Week culminates today with the awarding of the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award to Michael L. Batchelor, President of The Erie Community Foundation, in recognition of his many years of service to the community.

Batchelor has served as the President of The Erie Community Foundation since 1990. In early March, the Foundation announced that Batchelor will retire as President at the end of 2020. “I cannot think of anyone more deserving as the first ever winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Adam Bratton, Executive Director of The Nonprofit Partnership. “Mike has given so much back to this community and has done more than anyone I know in advancing the nonprofit sector in our region. His lifelong leadership will be the measure going forward for future winners of the Lifetime Achievement Award.”

The Nonprofit Excellence Awards were a part of the inaugural Celebrate Nonprofits Week, an initiative of The Nonprofit Partnership designed to increase public awareness of the contributions our nonprofits make to our communities and to provide an opportunity for those organizations to recognize and celebrate their employees and volunteers. More information about Celebrate Nonprofits Week is available at celebratenonprofits.org.

A recap of the 2020 Nonprofit Excellence Award winners follows:

  • Nonprofit of the Year: YMCA of Greater Erie (announced Monday, June 22)
  • CEO of the Year: Michael Robb, Alliance for Nonprofit Resources (announced Tuesday, June 23)
  • Best Place to Work: Erie Homes for Children and Adults (announced Wednesday, June 24)
  • Young Professional of the Year: Cassie Dundon, Achievement Center (announced Thursday, June 25)
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Michael Batchelor, The Erie Community Foundation (announced Friday, June 26)

A significant number of organizations and individuals located throughout the greater Erie region were nominated for recognition. “The number of wonderful nominations that The Nonprofit Partnership received for our inaugural award program was inspiring, although not surprising,” Bratton said. “Our community should be proud of, and comforted by, the excellence which is demonstrated in these award winners.”
