Erie's Future Fund

Mission

Erie’s Future Fund is the first scholarship of its kind in Pennsylvania! At Erie’s Future Fund, we provide scholarship opportunities for children from low income families for up to two years prior to kindergarten to attend a high-quality early childhood education program and become better prepared for kindergarten. Years of research shows that attending a high-quality early childhood education program will help lay the foundation to improve a child’s chance to succeed in school and improve their quality of life, even improving the chances of entering a skilled workforce and contributing productively to the community. In the past two years, we have provided 775 scholarship opportunities to children from low-income families throughout Erie County. Our families are diverse. Results from data gathered from assessments each year suggests that Erie’s Future Fund scholars have shown improvement in the learning areas required for success in kindergarten and beyond. Erie’s Future Fund is administered by Early Connections. 

Programs and Services

• We provide scholarships to children from low income families up to two years prior to kindergarten to attend a high-quality early childhood education program. Parents can choose from over 40 high-quality locations throughout Erie County. Scholarship applications for the next school year are currently being accepted. Assistance is provided during the application process and throughout the lifetime of the scholarship. We also partner with Success By 6 to reach more families and high quality programs, promoting quality early childhood education resources and activities held throughout the community.
