Mission

The mission of Erie Homes for Children and Adults is to assist people with disabilities to live rich and fulfilling lives. We do this by providing or coordinating compassionate, therapeutic, and medical support to individuals while enabling them to live with purpose and dignity, opportunities and choices for individuals to grow to their full potential, and services that maximize ability and participation in  a variety of community settings.

Programs and Services

  • We offer services and supports to individuals of all ages and all levels of disability, and our vision is that each person with a disability should have the opportunity to make choices, to contribute to his or her own daily lifestyle, to obtain the best education/training available, and to enjoy a home-like atmosphere with quality caregivers. We staff 18 community homes in Erie and Crawford County, the Options Program to provide in-home supports, respite and companion services, group activities, community partnerships, and other services to meet the individuals needs of people living with their family or on their own in the community; Project First Step - offering services to expectant mothers, young children and families living with mental illness or disabilities and severe social concerns that cause the greatest risk for having a child born with a disability or having your children removed from the home; our community-based day program, MOVE is designed to give adults with intellectual and physical disabilities successful experiences in visual and performing arts and provide them with choices and opportunities to be involved in their communities through volunteerism and social activities; Life Sharing through Family Living is similar to foster parenting, and staff match a family with a person in need of supervised living, so both can be enriched by sharing a home; Autism Waiver staff work with adults with autism spectrum disorder to receive community support by offering multiple services, including job exploration and supported employment.
