Tracking Progress for All

June 07, 2018

The Erie Community Foundation partnered with The Nonprofit Partnership to convene the region's nonprofit leaders to review the newly updated Erie Vital Signs website www.erievitalsigns.org.

The meeting featured an overview of key indicators by Erika Rosenberg, Principal of Center for Governmental Resources, a distinguished nonprofit focused on delivering strategic analysis to communities around the country.  Special features of the updated Erie Vital Signs website include the addition of numerous social equity indicators that shed light on disparities by race and ethnicity. To illuminate stark social equity gaps, the revised website features interactive maps that provide location-based insight to how social and economic conditions vary in different parts of Erie County.

“Our community is in a transformational moment and we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make Erie a community of choice for all”, said Michael L. Batchelor, President of The Erie Community Foundation. “Our plans are complete. Now is the time for data-informed action and this newly-updated Erie Vital Signs site will provide an important guidepost as we work collaboratively to transform our region.”

Following an overview of the data and trends, the group will share insights to the ways in which the region's nonprofit institutions are working to moving the needle for positive progress.  “This commitment to data-driven philanthropy and community problem solving is important,” said Adam Bratton, Executive Director of The Nonprofit Partnership.  “Erie Vital Signs informs public discourse and facilitates collaboration among nonprofit leaders with an eye to measured results necessary to track progress for all.  It is greatly appreciated by the hundreds of vital nonprofits that do the good work day in and day out of shoring up Erie’s well-being.”

Erie Vital Signs tracks indicators across seven topic areas: Health, Education, Economy, Environment, Community Engagement, Arts and Demographics.  Poverty, income, education levels, home values and housing affordability are examples of Erie Vital Signs indicators that can be tracked with the mapping feature.
