Marketing & Communications Officer

I. OBJECTIVE

The Marketing & Communications Officer provides management and organization of the Erie Women’s Fund volunteers so that asset, membership, education and community investment objectives are achieved or exceeded annually. The position is also a member of the Erie Community Foundation’s (“ECF”) Marketing & Communications team, and assists and supports the Vice President and Director of that department in achieving their objectives and goals. As part of this responsibility, and in partnership with ECF’s Philanthropic Services team, the Marketing Officer will create and distribute marketing material related to the Foundation’s Regional Affiliates and Affinity Funds (of which The Erie Women’s Fund is one). The officer will also participate in the planning and implementation of The Erie Community Foundation’s events, especially for the Foundation’s annual meeting, government relations events, ECF trustee dinner and the community-wide event, Erie Gives. As part of the team, the officer will assist in the preparation of the Foundation’s newsletters, brochures and annual report.


II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, coordinate and execute activities and responsibilities related to The Erie Women’s Fund and Regional Affiliates, and Affinity Groups.
  • Participate in the team effort for ECF events, news conferences, printed pieces and social media and ECF website.
  • Orient volunteers so they are prepared for duties on Erie Women’s Fund Steering Committee, and Erie Women’s Fund standing committees as needed
  • Create and manage electronic and personal communication for the Erie Women’s Fund, the Regional Affiliate Foundations, and the Affinity funds
  • Use software applications including but not limited to spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphic communications to assemble, manipulate and/or format data for various reports and communications
  • Other duties as requested


III. INTERFACE:

Internal:

  • Must have positive and professional rapport with all staff members and volunteers.
  • Must exercise independent judgement in problem resolution
  • Must prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with little or no supervision

External:

  • Must maintain positive rapport with donors, nonprofits and the community at large.


V. QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Experience:

  • Professional office experience required
  • Familiarity and competence with Microsoft Office® package (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) required
  • Experience with Adobe, Canva, Social Media tools preferred
  • Nonprofit experience helpful but not required

VI. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work as a team member.
  • Must present a professional image and maintain a positive work attitude.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with little or no supervision.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience with Adobe and Canva is helpful.
  • Must be detail-oriented with good attention to accuracy.
  • Must have vision and hearing correctable to within normal range.
  • Sedentary position exerting up to 10 pounds of force.

  • For compensation purposes, the position is benchmarked to 90% of Council on Foundations Donor Service/Development/Advancement Assistant
