Mission

Emmaus, a ministry of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, is a Christian presence and outreach to the poor in Erie since 1974 through the Emmaus Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry and Sister Gus' Kids Cafe.

Programs and Services

  • Emmaus Soup Kitchen serves approximately 200 meals each day to all who come.
  • Emmaus Food Pantry distributes emergency food to approximately 600 families each week.
  • Sister Gus' Kids Cafe provides an after-school program including a nourishing meal, homework assistance and supervised gym activities to approximately 60 children ages 6-17.
  • Emmaus Grove is a community garden that provides over 2,000 pounds of organic produce annually to the Emmaus Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.
